Direct Access Policy

The Roosevelt Public Library, as a member of the Nassau Library System Resource Sharing Code, agrees to make resources available to all borrowers who present a valid borrower’s card from any member library, subject to the rules and regulations of the Roosevelt Public Library.

All residents, regardless of age, may participate in the direct access process.

Roosevelt Public Library is not required to loan materials, acquired within the past year, to non-residents.

Roosevelt Public Library reserves the right to limit the loan of all audiovisual materials to its local cardholders.

Reserves and interlibrary loan requests may only be placed at one’s home library.

Roosevelt Public Library may give preference to the residents of Roosevelt in the use of public access computers, and attendance at library programs.

Remote access, (from home or other locations outside the library), to the databases to which the library subscribes may be limited to local taxpayers. This restriction may be a contractual requirement especially if the cost of a subscription is based on population served by the library.

Meeting Room Policies

Individual meeting rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis for a maximum of two people.

Due to high demand, non-Roosevelt Library cardholders cannot reserve rooms by phone. Please visit the library to check same-day availability.

Reservations with 24 hours' notice are accepted but will not be held beyond this timeframe.

Roosevelt Library cardholders may reserve rooms by phone at (516) 378-0222 or in person at the Adult or Children’s Reference Departments.

Long-term reservations are not permitted.

Please limit room usage to a maximum of one hour, with up to two hours allowed based on need, not exceeding two hours per day per group or individual.

All Roosevelt Public Library rules apply to meeting room use. All members of a group are responsible for adhering to these regulations:

Smoking is prohibited.

Food and drinks are not permitted.

Please maintain a quiet environment and set electronic devices to a low ringer or vibrate.

Remove all personal belongings when leaving the room. The Roosevelt Public Library is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Please notify a librarian when you leave the room.

Please vacate the meeting room 20 minutes before the library closes.

Notary Public
The Roosevelt Public Library has notary services. To ensure prompt service when you need a notary, please read the following: ​​​​

Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9:00AM - 12:00PM
Wednesdays: 5:00PM - 7:00PM

DO NOT sign your document in advance. ALL documents must be signed in the presence of the notary

Bring a photo ID, preferably your driver's license

If the document must be witnessed, you must provide your own witness. The library staff cannot supply as a witness
-
The notary cannot notarize wills or notarize the authenticity of documents (passports, birth, death, or marriage certificates, and leases, etc.)
Please note: The notary's oath requires the notary to identify the person signing the document and witness the act of signing.

The notary CANNOT make any exceptions to the New York State Law.
